非常建筑事务所设计的这座“垂直玻璃房” 是一年一度的shinkenchiku住宅设计竞赛的入围作品，现在被用作来访建筑师和艺术家的客房，并且她已不再是一个临时建筑，她将被永久的保留下去。

垂直玻璃宅，作为一个高密度当代城市住宅原型，探讨建筑垂直相度上的透明性，同时批判了现代主义的水平透明概念。一方面，垂直玻璃宅是精神的：它的墙体是封闭的，楼板和屋顶是透明的，于是向天与地开放，将居住者置于其间，创造出个人的静思空间。另一方面它是物质的：视觉上，垂直透明性使现代住宅中所需的设备、管线、和家具，包括楼梯，叠加成一个可见的家居系统；垂直玻璃宅成为对“建筑是居住的机器”理念的又一种阐释。

a singular steel column at the very center of the footprint supports crossing steel columns that subdivide the space into exact cubes. a 7cm thick tempered glass panel serves as the floor in each quadrant dedicated to a distinct domestic activity. a metal spiral staircase extends through all 4 levels of the building, ending in a double-height atrium facing the sky. horizontal slit openings in the exterior envelope allow the glass floor to break through the wall and allow the floor planes to be illuminated naturally while they glow at night. everything in the house is exposed to itself, while being entirely concealed from the outside world.
