It’s almost impossible to believe Tom Eckert uses traditional techniques to carve his amazing artworks from wood, but that’s just what makes him so special. Since childhood, I have been curious about and amused by mistaken impressions of reality presented as part of my visual experiences,” Tom says. “One of my earliestrecollections(回忆), on a car trip, was my perception(知觉) of the wet, slick(平滑器) highway(公路) ahead that turned out to be an illusion(幻觉), a mirage(海市蜃楼).  The revelation(启示) that I was fooled, visually andintellectually(智力上) tricked, stuck with me.  This visual deception(欺骗) is now the basis(基础) for mycreative(创造性的) direction.  “Cloth” carved of wood has much different structural(结构的) qualities than real cloth.
